Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Spoilers: Through S5 of SGA, and the beginning of S7 of NCIS, picks up where Terribly Restless left off.
Pairings/Characters: Tony DiNozzo/John Sheppard, and the rest of the gang
Word Count: ~18,000
Summary: It’s not going anywhere; they both know that. Somehow, they can’t help themselves.
A/N: I think that, technically, Tony should have a single bed at this point, but he has at least a double in S13, so I’m going to roll with that. A lot can happen in a few months/years. Fills the “WILD CARD” square for the hc_bingo prompt: “forbidden love”

Kintsugi

May. 24th, 2016 10:22 pm
enigmaticblue: Spuffy (spuffy)
This was my entry for [community profile] seasonal_spuffy, but we were out of town, and I'm finally getting around to posting it here.

Title: Kintsugi
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Buffy/Spike, Willow, Dawn, Tara
Spoilers: For S6, and a sequel to my fic, The Temporary Nature of Any Precious Thing
Word Count: ~13,500
Warnings: Abuse of magic, flashbacks to the Whirlwind and references to rape and general pillaging by the same.
Summary: Brokenness can be beautiful, particularly when you can be broken together.
A/N: Written for the 2016 spring Seasonal Spuffy challenge, A New Era, with a hat-tip to [profile] garnigal for the title. For those of you who don’t know, kintsugi is the Japanese art of golden repair: repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, and not something to disguise. For the purposes of this fic, the prior story ended somewhere in the vicinity of “Smashed/Wrecked” and this one picks up right after that one.

Note: If I haven’t already nattered on enough, I am throwing canon out the window here. This is a smaller story than I had intended, but real life got in the way. I hope you all enjoy it anyway.
Can't Win For Losing
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Jim Ellison/Samantha Carter, Blair Sandburg
Spoilers: Through the end of The Sentinel and S5.21, “Meridian”. Takes place soon after The Sorrows You Keep, and a part of my TS/SG-1 series.
Warnings: Major (canonical) character death
Word Count: 2028
Summary: Can’t win for losing, Jim thought, and wondered if their luck would ever turn around.
A/N: Written for the April Amnesty challenge for [community profile] hc_bingo, for the prompt “stranded/survival situation.”

FYI, this might end up being part of a longer story someday, and I'm definitely planning a long sequel, but I needed to post a crossover for hc_bingo, and I also needed to deal with Meridian. This is what happened.
Her Heart’s Apocalypse
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: R
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Tony/always-a-girl!Bruce
Spoilers: For The Incredible Hulk through The Avengers
Word Count: ~31,000
Warnings: References to child abuse, domestic violence (both consistent with Bruce Banner's comics backstory), transphobic and homophobic language (brief), alcoholism. Note that this is always-a-girl!Bruce, not a trans character
Summary: R. B. Banner remains a mystery that no one can quite grasp, at least not until she meets Tony Stark.
A/N: Title taken from the Green Day song, “Extraordinary Girl”. Originally, I was writing this for the trope_bingo “genderswap” prompt, but then it took me a year to finish (OMG), and here we are. So, I mostly wrote it just to see if I could. It was an interesting exercise, that’s for sure.

On AO3 due to length.
Younger Now Than We Were Before
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Bruce Banner/Tony Stark, Steve Rogers/Peggy Carter, Peggy Carter/Daniel Sousa
Spoilers: General spoilers for Agent Carter and Captain America: Winter Soldier.
Word Count: ~19,500
Summary: Bruce can’t allow Steve’s anguished expression to move him. “Don’t you think there are things we’d want to change, too?” he demands. (Or the one where Steve, Bruce, and Tony travel to the past and discover some interesting things about themselves and each other.)
A/N: A few things: this fic is set somewhere in the nebulous time between the fall of SHIELD and Avengers: Age of Ultron, but I’m ignoring anything in AoU that doesn’t fit with this fic. This story is brought to you by several IM conversations [personal profile] thomasina75 and I had while watching Agent Carter. I have tried to make it as plausible as possible without fudging too much. Finally, this fills the February [community profile] hc_bingo challenge for the following four prompts: “forced to rely on enemy/rival,” “nausea,” “comfort food or item/feeding someone,” and “WILD CARD (grief)”

For my friends who aren't into slash, the Bruce/Tony is more pre-slash or friendship than anything else.
Dust Bunny
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I don't own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Dean/Cas, Ben Braeden/OFC, OCs
Spoilers: Set the spring after Every Prodigal Knows, part of my Sun 'verse
Word Count: ~1600
Summary: Dean had never really thought of himself as a cat person.

When the Storm Is Finally Through
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Dean/Cas, Ben Braeden/OFC, OCs
Spoilers: Takes place shortly after Dust Bunny
Word Count: ~4400
Warnings: Um, tooth-rotting fluff?
Summary: Life had a tendency to throw a wrench in the works.

It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters, too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Tony/Bruce (background), Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, Clint BartonSpoilers: For Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Fraction and Aja’s entire run of Hawkeye, and a sequel of sorts to Things We Lost in the Fire
Word Count: ~4300
Summary: When asked where he was when SHIELD fell, Dean would say, “In a cage, with my brother.”
A/N: Written for the hc_bingo prompt, “cages.” This is not entirely compliant with SHIELD, as was probably obvious from the last fic, but I think I’ve tweaked things enough to make sense. I hope. Also, this is completely non-compliant with Clint’s character in Age of Ultron. I much prefer Fraction’s version.

May Our Children Have Strength to Let Go

Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairing/Characters: Dean/Cas, Sam/OFC, others
Spoilers: For my Sun ‘verse, set late 2017, after “The Good Stuff,” and before “Leaving the Nest.”
Word Count: ~4800
Summary: Sam wasn’t the last blood relation to turn up, but the Campbells were the ones to bring war to their door.
A/N: Written for the hc_bingo prompt, “dystopia,” and the title from the Over the Rhine song, “Another Christmas.”

Family Reunion
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Sam/Jack O’Neill, Jack Carter/Nathan Stark
Spoilers: Goes AU in S10 of SG-1, and early S2 of Eureka. A companion story of sorts for my Slow Burn Trilogy.
Word Count: ~3400
Summary: Sam needs to not be alone right now, and her long-lost cousin presents a golden opportunity.
A/N: Written for the hc_bingo prompt "broken bones." This probably could have been ten times longer, but I'm under the gun. If there's enough interest, I'll continue it.

Sins of the Father
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Spoilers: Part of my Sun ‘verse, set just after Gone Fishing but before While the Weary World Is Sleeping
Pairings/Characters: Dean/Castiel, Sam Winchester, Ben Braeden, OCs
Word Count: ~14,000
Summary: The sins of the father are often visited upon his children, and sometimes in unexpected ways.
A/N: A birthday gift for thomasina75 (late! Sorry!), who asked for Winchesters, Dean/Cas, Sun ‘verse, and a hunt that John Winchester never finished coming back to haunt them. Also fills the hc_bingo prompt, “magical trouble.”

Terribly Restless
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: R
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Tony DiNozzo/John Sheppard
Spoilers: Through the end of SGA and beginning of S7 of NCIS
Warnings: Homophobic language, suicide (not of a main character)
Word Count: ~13,500
Summary: In another lifetime, Tony spent summers in the Hamptons with the scions of other rich families, including one John Sheppard. In this lifetime, they meet again when they’re both at a crossroad.
A/N: Written for the [community profile] hc_bingo prompt: skeletons in the closet. Many thanks to [personal profile] shaddyr who posed the initial “what if?” with a bit of her own spin. This is my take on it. For purposes of this fic, I’m fudging the ages just a bit.

And Man So Small
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Spoilers: Through the end of the series, and a sequel to Death Is Just So Full
Pairings/Characters: Jim/Blair, Simon, OCs
Word Count: ~12,000
Warnings: Homophobia, including homophobic language, substance abuse, domestic violence (not between Jim and Blair)
Summary: Blair has his own past, and a couple of close calls.
A/N: Written for the hc_bingo prompt "substance abuse." Please keep in mind that for the flashbacks, Blair is 18 and is still coming to terms with his sexuality.

Cellophane Man
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters, which is really too bad.
Pairings/Characters: Bruce Banner, Tony Stark (gen or pre-slash, whatever you prefer)
Spoilers: Through Age of Ultron, plus some spoilers for the tag scene of Ant-Man, and some speculation about Civil War, but no spoilers unless you count the trailer.
Word Count: ~4500
Summary: For a long time, Bruce has wanted to be invisible. And then he is.
A/N: Written for the hc_bingo prompt "invisibility." Somewhat inspired by the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode, "Now You See Me," and title from the musical Chicago. What can I say? I'm eclectic.

Bear Me Safe Through Dark
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: NC-17
Pairings/Characters: Bruce/Tony, Pepper Potts/Phil Coulson, Jennifer Walters, Steve Rogers, Nick Fury, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton
Spoilers: A sequel to Iron and Blood, and spoilers through The Avengers and Iron Man 3.
Warnings: Minor character death (non-permanent and canonical), canon-level violence in keeping with The Avengers and Iron Man 3, angst, descriptions of mental health problems
Word Count: ~52,000
Summary: Bruce and Tony are looking forward to the rest of their lives together and are planning their wedding, when all hell breaks loose. Confronting Captain America is bad enough, but after the events of New York, Bruce questions his control and his relationship with Tony. Tony can’t sleep and isn’t sure he can start a life with Bruce when his head isn’t screwed on straight. Jennifer is trying to figure out how to be a superhero both in and out of the courtroom, and Pepper is doing her best to ensure things don’t all go to hell in a handbasket.
A/N: I’ve tossed a lot of canon out with this fic. I liked IM3 well enough, but there were things that just didn’t work well with this ‘verse, and other things I thought didn’t work well at all. I’d just ask you to keep an open mind.

Many thanks to my artist, digitalwave. You can find the art masterpost here.

Title: The Temporary Nature of Any Precious Thing
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Buffy/Spike
Spoilers: Through mid-S6, although it’s more than a bit AU. Takes place after my fic Certain Dark Things
Word Count: ~12,500
Summary: The things you most want to hold onto, the things that are most precious, are always temporary.
A/N: Written for [community profile] seasonal_spuffy  fall 2015 round. To look back, I realized that the last fic I’d written for SS was Certain Dark Things, and was a ‘verse I’d always intended to revisit. Coming around full circle, the title for the first fic in this series was from a Lucinda Williams song; this title is from a Lucinda Williams' song of the same name.
A/N2: I find the question of whether a vampire can suffer from something like PTSD to be a fascinating question. From the beginning of S3, and Angel’s slow recovery, I would assume that it’s possible.

First off, many thanks to my flisties for their support and encouragement in getting back into the Spuffy fandom, and helping me find something new to say. Thanks to gillo for suggesting the perfect poem, and helping to shape the fic as a whole. And extra warm thanks to sandy_s and ayinhara for their lightening fast betas. This fandom rocks.

Now, the fic. I strongly suggest you read the other two installments, but if you want to dive right in just know that in the first story, Spike and Buffy meet in LA between S2 and S3 and start up a relationship of sorts. In Certain Dark Things, Buffy rescues Spike from the Initiative at the end of S4, where he'd been held for months. This story starts about 3 months later.

Force of Nature
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: R
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Spoilers: Through 2.14, “Love in the Time of Hydra.” Goes swiftly AU after that.
Pairings/Characters: Skye, Tony/Bruce
Word Count: ~26,500
Summary: Who better to teach Skye control than another force of nature?
A/N: Goes AU during “Love in the Time of Hydra,” and ignores a good part of Age of Ultron.

Fic on AO3
Art on AO3

Note: Even if you're not normally a Science Bros shipper, I'd encourage you to give this a try, particularly if you're a fan of Agents of SHIELD. The shippiness is fairly low key.

And please go give my artist some love, if you would.
Time and Tide
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Jim/Blair
Spoilers: Through the end of the series
Word Count: ~7400
Artist: Luna, Project #9
Beta: t_verano
Summary: Will an incoming tsunami bring Jim and Blair back together, or separate them permanently?

A/N: Written for the 2015 Sentinal Reverse Bang. Many thanks to t_verano for the help! All remaining mistakes are mine.

A/N 2: There has been a lot more info in the news recently about the potential for a big tsunami in the Pacific Northwest. So, this fic might be AU, but the reality is that the possibility is there. For the record, I’m basing the geography of Cascade loosely off Seattle. I have read Legion’s “Unsung,” and I think this takes a slightly different tack. I didn’t want to be too influenced by that story, but I did want to offer this disclaimer. Whatever similarities there happen to be, they were unintentional on my part.

Thicker Than Water
Author: enigmaticblue
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters; too bad, so sad.
Pairings/Characters: Gen; Wesley, Dawn, Spike, OFCSpoilers: Part of my Second Childhood ‘verse, sequel to It Seems That All My Bridges Have Been Burnt
Word Count: ~4100
Summary: Blood may be thicker than water, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything.
A/N: Although “blood is thicker than water” is generally understood to mean that the bonds of blood kinship are stronger than any other bonds, other cultures have a slightly different take—that the bonds between those who take a blood oath are stronger than bonds between kin or even foster brothers. I’ll let you decide which understanding is more appropriate to this fic. Written for the hc_bingo prompt, “runaways.”
